Mold in a bathroom….
/I am not a Mold professional, this is what my mold consultant advised for me personally. Please seek professional help when remediating mold.
I found mold in a bathroom in the past and the most important thing to do is to contain the mold so spores don’t spread until remediation can happen. You can also do this if you are not planning on using the space to keep spores from contaminating the home.
Step 1: Cover it, don’t disturb it. Put on a protective mask and use 6ml plastic sheeting to contain the mold. Cut out a large piece and make sure it over covers the area. Secure with duct tape. If there is no door on the bathroom, add plastic sheeting with a zipper. Remove and dispose of any bathmats or towels that have been sitting in the bathroom.
Step 2: Use a Humidifier to humidify Curaclean HOCL (code HCL). This creates more of a fog. This will kill and bring down airbone mold to the floor. Let this run for 30 minutes and turn it off. Wipe down the whole room with a microfiber cloth including walls and surfaces. If there is an air return, cover it with the plastic sheeting as well. Use the same Curaclean at full strength to clean the toilet tank and bowl, as the mold in the room can accumulate and breed in the toilet tank.
Step 3: If there is a window it can be opened at this time, also run a Jaspr air filter (code HCL for $300 off good thru June 2025) if you have one. It can remove 99.8% of mold in 2 hours.
Step 4: Now that the active mold is contained just leave the air filter running, and if there is no door, keep the zipper up when not using.
This creates a more safe environment and keeps mold spores from spreading. Always run a fan when using the shower and run a small dehumidifier if needed.
I would try to have someone can and remove and replace the drywall and floor boards that have been affected as soon as possible. Remember, if you are seeing mold on the surface of the dry wall it. I would avoid keeping towels in the bathroom and use a DE bathmat.
Curaclean is Powerful HOCL that is safe and can kill mold. I also use the nasal spray after a mold exposure to kill is in the sinuses to keep it from becoming systemic in the body.
HistoComplex + helps your immune system deal with mold and supports your mast cells. I take a scoop before bed just to combat mold exposure in general and it can also help with allergy symptoms.
$300 off with code HCL
Jaspr is my top choice for an air scrubber with a lifetime warranty with filter subscription. Most air purifiers are disposable with a 1 year warrant. These are made of rolled steel, low EMF and clean the air fast! Their 3 party independent lab testing cleared 99.8% of mold in 2 hours and the filters do not need to be replaced right after a mold exposure like most filters. $300 off with code HCL lasts until June 30 2025.
